Me
Originating from a quaint village with a modest population of approximately 500 residents, situated roughly 35 kilometers away from Udaipur City, I was raised amidst challenging circumstances. As the son of a government educator, my academic journey began in a local government school, where I completed my education up to the 12th standard. Despite the initial hurdles, I resolved to pursue higher studies in business management, thus enrolling in a Bachelor of Business Management program. Transitioning from the familiar environment of a government school to the rigors of an English medium institution proved to be a formidable challenge. While contemplating a shift towards preparing for government job examinations, a common path chosen by many of my peers, I opted instead to persevere, immersing myself in the new milieu and acquiring proficiency in business management.
Subsequently, I pursued an MBA in marketing from Jaipur, which provided me with a broader perspective and deeper insights into the field. During my MBA program, I seized an opportunity to enhance my skills by undertaking a Diploma in International Business from the prestigious London School of Business Management, London. Upon completing my studies, I embarked on a professional journey with a Diamond jewellery company, specializing in the Japanese market. This role afforded me invaluable practical experience and deepened my understanding of the intricacies of business operations. Through dedication and diligence, I ascended to the position of Department Head, marking a significant milestone in my career trajectory.
My Journey
My journey with Lify began during my employment when I had the opportunity to reside in a factory in China, situated in Guangzhou, a city in close proximity to Hong Kong. While exploring local markets, I befriended a Chinese individual who was involved in exporting silicone insoles and gel insoles to markets like the USA and Canada. Recognizing the potential of this new product idea for the Indian market sparked the initial seeds of Lify in my mind.
During this period, my friend Ray encountered some dead stock due to canceled orders from his customers. Sensing an opportunity, I obtained the goods on credit at cost price, seeing it as a chance to test these products in the Indian market. I promptly sent the goods to India, where a friend already engaged in e-commerce handled sales. Remarkably, the stock sold out within just two and a half months, prompting a repeat order.
In 2017, I made the decision to transition from employment to full-time business with Lify. However, this transition was not without its challenges. We faced initial setbacks, including damages during shipment due to carrier issues, resulting in financial losses. Despite these hurdles, with support from family members, we persevered and gained valuable insights into which products were viable for importation.
In the subsequent years, specifically 2018-19, we embarked on expanding our product line, incorporating shoe accessories such as orthopedic shoe insoles, shoe shapers, and shoelaces. However, the onset of the pandemic presented a critical phase for everyone. Recognizing the challenges posed by importing goods during this time, we pivoted our strategy towards manufacturing shoe bags and packing organizers. This strategic shift proved to be a milestone for Lify, significantly reducing our out-of-stock ratio and ensuring greater control over our supply chain.
Our Brand
Lify is a brand that specializes in life-related products. Our initial venture began with gel insole products, aimed at providing enhanced foot comfort. Additionally, we have delved into the niche market of shoe accessories, recognizing the untapped potential within India. Our primary focus lies in introducing international quality and styles to the Indian market while championing local manufacturing. In line with this commitment, we export our in-house produced goods, such as shoe bags and cotton canvas bags, to the USA.
